CompHealth shares in STAR Program launch in Rhode Island

On September 22nd, I traveled to Providence, Rhode Island to share in an exciting launch event at the statehouse that marks a growing movement in cancer survivorship care.  Oncology Rehab Partners (ORP), creators of the STAR Certifications for cancer rehab, partnered with Rhode Island’s Gloria Gemma Foundation and the state of Rhode Island to make its STAR Program the new standard of care for cancer survivors throughout the state.  It was exciting to witness first-hand the buzz around this initiative.  Governor Lincoln Chafee, representatives of each organization, and dozens of healthcare facility leaders and medical professionals shared stories about how this will improve the quality of care for their patients.

Advance for Physical Therapy and Rehab Medicine featured the launch event as the cover story of its October 17 issue, which is online here.  Allison Hoehn, OT, and the first CompHealth therapist to complete her STAR Certification, also traveled to Rhode Island and was interviewed for the story during the event.  Logo_STAR_Clinician_150pix.png

Allison talks about the growing focus in cancer rehabilitation methods in this Advance video feature.  You’ll also hear from Dr. Julie Silver, the founder of ORP and a cancer survivor, sharing her personal story and the need for better rehabilitation for so many like her.

As a leader in healthcare staffing, CompHealth is proud to help advance the cause of cancer survivorship care through our partnership with Oncology Rehab Partners.  By making STAR Certification accessible and affordable to all of our Rehab providers, it creates a wonderful opportunity for them to increase their scope of practice, become an expert in oncology rehabilitation methods, and open new career opportunities in a variety of settings.  It’s a truly exciting time to be part of this movement!
